How did you use Evernote and the Evernote Web Clipper to support your work in this course? At first, I found it really difficult to use Evernote and Evernote Web Clipper to support my work. I did not understand what was so special about these programs. Throughout my time in school, I have always taken notes either in a notebook or Word, and they had always worked well for me. In this class, I branched out and tried to use Evernote and Evernote Web Clipper. To be honest, I do not think that I gave Evernote Web Clipper that much of a chance. I only tried to use it a couple of times. I found it to be a little confusing and I just did not find myself doing it often. Evernote on the other hand, I used on only for this course but for other courses as well. I found that it was easy to use and a good way to organize my notes. I liked how easy it was to creates notes and organize them in a way that would be easy to find. However, I still find myself using Word for research. I find that Evernote works better as an organizational method for notes while Word is good for projects and research.
What other uses for your PKB did you develop as you got more comfortable with Evernote? I used Evernote in other classes besides Education. I found that it was a good way to organize my notes by classes and then in categories within those classes. At first, I only used Evernote for education and for very basic notes. I found over time that it could benefit me with some of my other courses such as GCH 101 and WRT 104. The web-clipping tool came in handy in these courses. I found this tool so much easier than just simply bookmarking the page, which is what I had been doing prior. This tool made it so much easier to do research because if I ever came across an article that I thought I could use, I would just clip it and then come back to it later. At first I was a little apprehensive about the web-clipping tool. I thought that it was confusing and unnecessary.
How do you think that viewing your notes as a lasting resource might affect how you participate in future courses? I think that Evernote and Evernote Web Clipper’s lasting ability is what makes these programs so appealing. I like the fact that I can save my information on my phone and have it be available on my computer. I think that these sources really cater to twenty first century students. I like the fact that I can easily look back at my notes no matter how much time has past. Now that I know this, I think that in future courses, I will take advantage of this program. I will be able to take notes and organize them in a way that is easy for me to understand. Then, when finals or any sort of test comes along, I can easily go to that folder and find the notes that I am looking for. I think that this tool will also make doing research easier. I will use the Web Clipper to easily keep track of important articles. I think this will also come in handy if, after a long period of time, I need to go back and look at old research. Since these programs save, I will be able to backtrack on my research easily.
